The Campaign Heats Up!

Defeat Poverty DC volunteers braved the heat last Saturday to help educate voters on poverty in the city, as well as raise awareness of the campaign. Two groups of volunteers made it out to the Mt. Pleasant and H Street Farmers’ Markets where they made a visible presence and sparked the interest of many of the community members. Not only was the canvass a lot of fun, but it was great to receive positive feedback from many of the residents, lauding our efforts to address this complex issue. Overall, Defeat Poverty signed-on over 100 new supporters, many of whom were interested in getting further involved by volunteering with the campaign. Saturday’s canvass proved a success, making a clear statement that DC voters care about poverty, and they want to hear how the candidates will take action in the fight against poverty.

Also, check our Facebook page, which will have uploaded pictures from the canvass, as well as video recordings from Monday’s r.e.e.l. Candidate Forum with council chair candidates responding to Defeat Poverty DC questions.
