Straw Poll with be held at Michigan Park Christian Church 1600 Taylor Street NE
Tuesday, August 24th – Fair Budget Coalition Council Chair and At-Large Candidate Forum Join Defeat Poverty DC, in co-sponsorship with DC Jobs Council, DC Jobs with Justice, District Alliance for Safe Housing, Empower DC, Fair Budget Coalition, Latino Economic Development Corporation, Metropolitan Washington Council AFL-CIO, Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, and Wider Opportunities for Women, for a lively candidate forum. Confirmed candidates include Kwame Brown (Chairman) Vincent Orange (Chairman) Dorothy Douglas (Chairman) Ann Wilcox (Chairman) Phil Mendelson (At-Large, Incumbent) Michael D. Brown (At-Large) Darryl L. C. Moch (At-Large) Clark Ray (At-Large) David Schwartzman (At-Large). This forum is free and open to the public and is a great opportunity for audience members to ask candidates questions.
The forum will begin at 6:30pm and will be held at the True Reformer Building, Marsh Conference Room, 1200 U Street NW (One block from U St Metro Station).
Tuesday, August 24th – Jewish Community Relations Council DC Mayoral Debate From 8:00pm to 9:30pm at the Historic Sixth and I Synagogue (600 I Street NW), the Jewish community invites all District residents to a mayoral debate with candidates Mayor Adrian Fenty and Council Chairman Vincent Gray. The candidates will share their vision for the District, discuss issues affecting the Jewish community, and answer your questions. They will address general concerns ranging from affordable housing, immigration, and economic development to education, social services, volunteer programs, and civil and voting rights.
Wednesday, August 25th – Coalition for Voter Empowerment (COVE) Interview with the Candidates This Wednesday from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, COVE is offering you an opportunity to meet three candidates: Kwame Brown (Candidate for Council Chair), Kenyan McDuffie (Candidate for Ward Five City Councilmember), and Clark Ray (Candidate for At-Large City Councilmember). Will be held at the Community Academy Public Charter Schools (the former Armstrong Adult Education Center), 1st and P Streets, NW, Washington, DC Come out and check out these candidates, get answers to questions you want answered and be informed. Your vote is your power.
Wednesday, August 25th – Fair Budget Coalition Ward 6 Candidate Forum From 7:30pm to 9:00pm come out to the Christ Our Shepherd Church, 8th and North Carolina SE, Washington, DC to hear what Ward 6 candidates (Councilmember Tommy Wells, Kelvin Robinson, and Jim DiMartino) have to say. The forum will be moderated by Mark Segraves of WTOP and Channel 50 and is free and open to the public. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions. Thursday, August 26th – Ward 6 Council Democratic Candidates Debate with Councilmember Tommy Wells and Candidate Kelvin Robinson Attention all Ward 6 residents! Come out to St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church at 600 M Street, SW at 7pm for a lively debate between Councilmember Wells and Candidate Kelvin Robinson.
