support literacy in the District
On Friday, July 13th, the District of Columbia City Council held a Roundtable, ‘Public Education in DC.’
Joining Defeat Poverty Director Joe Weedon in speaking at the hearing about the importance of improving literacy in the District was Donna Power Stowe, an education consultant and member of Defeat Poverty DC. A number of our partners also spoke and submitted statements, including our board member, Valarie Ashley from Southeast Ministry.
